Please note that this is a 2-part session running over two consecutive days. Please register for both sessions.

This session focuses on the geography and history of Afghanistan, as well as the experiences of Afghans in conflict. It also addresses the services (including education and healthcare) that Afghans may be accustomed to and their expectations regarding access to these services in Afghanistan. Additionally, the session provides a brief overview of the experiences of Afghans in displacement and an introduction to the Afghanistan Relocation Assistance Policy (ARAP). This session is participatory and relies heavily on participant engagement through case studies and discussions.

Afghan cultural norms, practices, family, and social life. It also explores IOM’s pre-departure support to beneficiaries, including United Kingdom Cultural Orientation (UKCO) and Cultural Adjustment. Like the previous session, this one is also participatory and relies heavily on participant engagement through case studies and discussions.

In this session, we will delve into the historical context and contemporary events in Iran. Additionally, we will explore the challenges faced by displaced Iranians. This session will primarily focus on different aspects of Iranian society, culture, and communication within the community. This participatory session will heavily rely on engaging case studies and discussions. We strongly encourage participants to have their cameras ready for an interactive experience.

This session’s content will focus primarily on experiences that Syrian communities may face in conflict, as well as the experiences Syrians may face in displacement within and outside Syria. It will also discuss Syrian cultural norms, customs and behaviours, as well as family and social life in Syria. The session will also cover experiences Syrian’s may have had with accessing services such as healthcare and education. This session will be participatory and rely heavily on participant engagement through case studies and discussion, therefore we highly encourage participants to come prepared to have their cameras on during the session.

From 14:00 to 16:30

This session’s content will focus primarily on the geography, topography and history of Eritrea. In addition to this, the session will also cover experiences with services that the Eritrean community may face, both within and outside their country of origin. Additionally, the session will focus on conditions Eritreans may face in the region (both within Eritrea and in neighbouring countries), as well as cultural norms, customs, and behaviours. It will also discuss the family and social life of Eritreans. This session will be participatory and rely heavily on participant engagement through case studies and discussion; therefore, we highly encourage participants to come prepared to have their cameras on during the session.
