Local migration profiles [LMPs]

Information about migration trends can be hard to obtain and complex to understand. There’s no easy way to define or count the number of migrants in any place at any particular time as there are different views about who classes as a migrant. A common definition is that a migrant is someone who comes to the UK for more than a year.

Our local migration profiles [LMPs] bring together migration estimates made by the Office for National Statistics, as well as counts of migrants in datasets collected for other purposes [‘administrative’ datasets], to provide detailed information on longer term migration trends and data that we can access for an area.  

LMPs for 2020 are available using the links below. The summaries provide a quick overview of the information, and are more suitable for taking to a meeting or sharing with colleagues.
