User guide: country of birth data dashboard

This Migration Yorkshire dashboard presents an area profile about the non-UK born population for each local authority area in Yorkshire and Humber.

Watch this detailed video user guide for more support on how to use the dashboard.

What’s covered in the dashboard?

This dashboard presents Census 2021 country of birth data released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) on 2 November 2022 to provide insight into the migrant population for Yorkshire and Humber local authorities.

In the absence of a specific question in the Census asking people if they are a migrant, the country of birth indicator is the preferred measure for migration, as a person’s place of birth doesn’t change while their nationality or passport held can.

The dashboard provides:

  • a local authority profile of the non-UK born population for Yorkshire and Humber local authorities
  • a comparison of the non-UK born population for Yorkshire and Humber local authorities and England and Wales local authorities and regions, and
  • a detailed country of birth level profile.
