What does antisocial behaviour look like for people from across the world who now live in our region of Yorkshire and Humber?

Participants in our research told us about their experiences. Important findings include:

  • Most people we talked to said they’d experienced antisocial behaviour that was targeted at them because of their ethnicity, migration status or gender – or a combination of these.
  • Some of this behaviour was carried out not only by strangers but also neighbours and service providers in their local communities.
  • The negative impacts of antisocial behaviour are varied and can last a long time and, for this particular group, can exacerbate previous trauma.
  • Further, participants worried about the impacts on children’s feelings of safety and their mental health.
  • The report recognises there are many reasons why a person might not report antisocial behaviour.
  • Participants gave their ideas on how antisocial behaviour could be prevented and addressed, asking for witnesses to call it out and for better investment in places of support.
