The service we offer

Who can join Connecting Opportunities?

Yorkshire and Humber showing main towns

We welcome all new migrants, who:

  • are age 15 or above
  • have permission to work in the UK but are not in work
  • live in West Yorkshire or parts of North Yorkshire
  • have arrived in the UK within the last 10 years and do not have British citizenship

We help with:

  • improving English
  • developing the skills needed to gain employment in the UK
  • feeling part of the community
  • increasing confidence and well-being

We also:

  • pay for travel costs
  • pay for childcare
  • offer some women-only activities
  • arrange interpreters for some activities
  • we try to provide a female case worker or female interpreter if required

It's a free service that lasts for up to 12 months for each individual participant. For more information, see our participant leaflet.

How to refer yourself or someone else

Connecting Opportunities is still running and is open to new referrals during the Coronavirus/Covid 19 outbreak. All services for participants are being offered remotely.
