Summary:
The UK government has announced plans to reform the UK asylum system and strengthen border controls.
In March 2021, it published a policy statement on its New Plan for Immigration, followed by a public consultation. In July 2021, it published the Nationality and Borders Bill.
The short ‘progress and amendments’ February 2022 briefing provides a recent update on what has changed since the Bill has been making its way through Parliament.
