Description
OutlineOur services:
Advice, Health and Therapeutic Services:
- The Advice, Health and Therapeutic service provides advice and information, including immigration legal advice, to asylum seekers, refused asylum seekers and refugees.
- Solace provides therapeutic services and counselling on 1 - 2 days each week to clients who have sustained psychological or other trauma.
- Applications: Fresh Claim Surgery, Applications for leave/ settlement, DDV concessions, family reunion applications, third country cases, adding a child to your immigration status.
Children and Families Service:
The Children and Families project offers one to one support for refugee and asylum seeking families as they arrive in Bradford.
We offer:
- Support and advice on housing, education, benefits and accessing legal and immigration advice.
- Information about life and culture in the UK. We have weekly social groups and offer trips out during the school holidays.
- Our At Home in Bradford group supports children who are waiting for school places with group activities, home visits, and trips out and about.
- Our Welcome Group in BD5 is a family group with activities and crafts for adults and children - Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 at St. Stephens Church, Newton Street, BD5 7BH.
Working English: The Working English Project works with refugees and other eligible migrants to increase their employability and understanding of the UK work environment. Refugees improve their skills through a combination of one to one support, English language support, mentoring, job search skills, help with cv writing and job applications.
Transitions: The Transitions projects works with asylum seekers and refugees in Kirklees and Calderdale and includes Fresh Claims work, support with certain applications for refugees, therapeutic support and training.
English classes: There are different classes which run for different groups at Refugee Action. Please get in touch for more information.
Volunteering: There are several volunteering opportunities across the services. Please get in touch for more information.
We will only be able to see a set number of people at the drop-ins each week depending on the number of staff and volunteers available so come early to avoid disappointment. At all other times, we see clients by appointment/ referral only.
