Outline

Solace is a charity offering the following services to asylum seekers and refugees only, mostly but not exclusively in Leeds:

Solace works mostly with adults with some family work. Most of Solace's work is one-to-one, but some is group work or family work. Interpreters are used for about half of all therapy sessions.

The opening times shown below are for the Leeds office. Solace also works in Bradford on Wednesdays.

South Yorkshire Refugee Law and Justice [SYRLJ] is a locally led and run, non-political and non-denominational group of volunteers. Its members include lawyers, students, people experienced in the asylum field and those who are new to it. Some are refugees.

St Augustine's Centre is a community centre open to all. It aims to offer a welcoming environment for people to access support and advice; it offers help with basic needs and aims to build confidence, to encourage participation within the community and to prevent isolation. The Centre welcomes the vulnerable and is open to everyone, regardless of faith, ethnicity, background or any other factors.

Outline

We provide screening for tuberculosis [TB] for clients from all countries of high TB incidence: this includes people seeking asylum, people on short and long stay visas and work permits, and overseas students. The countries of high TB incidence include all of Africa, Asia, some East European countries, some south American countries - an up to date list is available from the World Health Organization website.

We can also offer advice on other health issues, or signpost the client to other health services.

People can refer themselves, or be referred by another agency. There is an appointment system. Please see below for clinic opening times. Appointments may be available outside these hours, but please phone first to check.
