Refugees struggle to secure employment

Evidence shows that:

  • Refugees are less likely to be employed compared to UK nationals - 56% vs 78%.
  • Refugees especially struggle to secure jobs that are compatible with their skills and education levels.
  • Refugees earn less than natives and other migrants.
  • In Yorkshire and Humber, three months after receiving refugee status, 74% of refugees are unemployed.
