Connecting Opportunities works with new migrants to develop their skills and opportunities to find work and be part of the local community.

Who is the service for?

We welcome all new migrants age 15 and above, men and women, who:

  • have permission to work in the UK but are not in work
  • live in West Yorkshire or these parts of North Yorkshire: Craven, Harrogate, Selby and York
  • have arrived into the UK within the last 10 years and do not have British citizenship

Connecting Opportunities will help with:

  • improving English
  • developing the skills needed to gain employment in the UK
  • increasing confidence and well-being
  • feeling part of the community

Services offered for up to 12 months:

  • one to one support
  • help with employment skills
  • learning English [ESOL]
  • mentoring and befriending
  • mental health support

Referral news 5 May 2021: please note we're currently not accepting referrals for migrants aged 22 and over from Bradford and Leeds. This is constantly reviewed and will be updated accordingly.

Connecting Opportunities is a partnership project made up of ten organisations that specialise in working with migrants. The lead organisation on the project is Migration Yorkshire. Connecting Opportunities is funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund. It is part of the Building Better Opportunities programme.
