Connecting Opportunities

Connecting Opportunities works with new migrants to develop their skills and opportunities to find work and be part of the local community.

Who is this project for?

We welcome all new migrants, men and women, who:

  • are age 15 or above
  • have permission to work in the UK but are not in work
  • live in West Yorkshire or parts of North Yorkshire [Craven, Harrogate, Selby and York]
  • have arrived into the UK within the last 10 years and do not have British citizenship

We help with:

  • improving English
  • developing the skills needed to gain employment in the UK
  • feeling part of the community
  • increasing confidence and well-being

The service is free and lasts for up to 12 months for each individual participant.

We also:

  • pay for travel costs
  • pay for childcare
  • offer some women-only activities
  • arrange interpreters for some activities

Wherever possible, we aim to provide a female case worker or female interpreter if required.
