Syrian refugee resettlement - a guide for local authorities

Picture of the cover of the Syrian refugee resettlement guide

This new guide helps local authority officers planning and delivering services for Syrian refugees resettled under the Syrian Resettlement Programme [SRP].

‘The guide looks excellent – although there are some differences around service provision and delivery up here, am sure it will still be of use and interest to Scottish LA's.’  [Andrew Morrison, Policy Manager, COSLA Migration, Population and Diversity Team]

The guide covers the whole process for local authorities:

  • deciding whether or not to participate in the programme
  • the practicalities of accepting individual cases
  • the funding available
  • pre-arrival preparations
  • activities in the first week
  • ongoing support
  • exit arrangements
  • successful integration into local communities

You can also find examples of practice used by some local authorities, useful checklists and top tips.

The guide was commissioned by the Local Government Association from Migration Yorkshire.
