Migrant
A person who leaves their country of origin to live in another country.
 
Migrant worker
A migrant who has left their country of origin and is working in another country. In the UK, this term includes people entering the UK with work visas, EU migrants and those entering under the Points Based System.
 
Migration
The movement of people between different countries. In the UK this is often used in the context of migrants coming to live in the UK [i.e. immigrants].
 
Migration Impacts Fund [MIF]
A UK government fund [April 2009 - September 2010] raised from migrant taxes to help public services respond to migration through specific funding streams for local services.
