Introducing the blog - 10/12/2008

This blog is all about integration. Integration is a two way process of new residents and host communities adapting to each other. If you’re interested in finding out more about integration in Yorkshire and Humberside, or you want to share your views, you’ll probably be interested in our new blog.

I’m Dave Brown, I’m based at the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Migration Partnership [YHRMP] and my job is to introduce a new strategy for the integration of refugees and asylum seekers in this region. I’m running this blog, which means I’ll be posting some new blogs myself, and moderating any blogs or comments that people send in. Anyone can contribute, and we’ll have some invited guest bloggers from around the region and from YHRMP.

We want the blog to focus on asylum seekers and refugees, and sometimes maybe other migrants, and to cover things like:

• people’s experiences of integration in Yorkshire and Humberside
• new research, policies, projects
• media coverage of integration in the UK

For those of you who haven’t contributed to a blog before and fancy having a go, here are some simple guidelines:

A ‘blog entry’ is what we’re calling a new topic or discussion that someone has started.

If you want to comment on a blog entry, click ‘Add a comment’ and write your comments.

If you want to start a new blog entry, click on the link ‘Add a blog entry’, which is on the menu on the left side of the screen. You can then write your username, give your blog entry a name, and write what you think.

All comments and blogs will go live on the site after I’ve moderated or authorised them. I’ll be checking that the content isn’t hostile or offensive to anyone, or to any group of people or any organisation. This is really important, due to the sensitive nature of the subject.
